My Secret Weapon: Why I Trust Anonymous Strangers More Than AI for Answers

· ⏱ 1 min read · Social Pressure

Growing up in India, there’s an unspoken pressure to always be “in the know.” From family gatherings where every elder expects you to be a walking encyclopedia, to peer groups where asking a seemingly basic question can invite a barrage of teasing, I always felt this immense burden. My mind, bless its curious soul, would constantly churn out what I considered “stupid questions.” Things like, “Why do some street vendors always add a specific leaf to their chai?” or “What’s the actual difference between paneer and tofu beyond the obvious?” These weren’t profound queries, but the fear of judgment, of being seen as ignorant, kept them locked away.
